Covid-19 Statement

The Dean Forest Railway will be reopening on August 1st, operating on Saturdays Sundays and Wednesdays. In order to be COVID-19 compliant, we have made changes to both what we are running and how we are running.

Full risk assessments and training have been provided for all our staff to ensure compliance. Please note that we do have many volunteers who volunteer as a family, so you may see volunteers working in close proximity who are related.

Family friendly fun We are a heritage railway running through the Forest of Dean and this year marks the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the inaugural Dean Forest Railway Preservation Society. We have five stations along the line with picturesque countryside walks being accessible from these stations. Our special events throughout the year prove extremely popular and include a 1940s Weekend, Branchline Experience days and Santa Specials at Christmas which is always a sell-out event. We are continually reviewing our events to ensure we cater for all tastes and ages. At our Norchard station we have a cafe, a well-stocked shop selling a vast array of books, toys and gifts as well as a fascinating museum transporting visitors back in time.
